PCR
PCR is an abbreviation of Polymerase Chain Reaction.
PCR is a technique for rapidly producing many
copies of a fragment of DNA for diagnostic or research purposes.
Usually, at least a million-fold increase of a specific section of a DNA
molecule can be realized. The PCR product can then be detected by gel
electrophoresis. The regions amplified are usually between 150-3,000 base pairs
in length.

Although I don't have any medical qualifications,
as a sufferer of Diabetes, Deafness and Tinnitus caused by the A3243G mtDNA defect,
I do have a very keen interest in the subject.
