How the Support Group works.

The " Support Group" is designed to allow like minded people find each other, and provide information, support and encouragement.

This should be possible on a global basis.
Equally there could be benefits, of finding people in the same Country, who speak the same Language as yourself!

Aspects of the " Support Group" are:

Anonymity: The " Support Group" must allow anonymity for those who want it.
  • Receiving the Newsletter is anonymous, (it is sent out using the BCC feature).
  • Contributing to the Forum is anonymous, (unless you include any personal details).
  • Submitting a Personal Journey is anonymous, (unless you include any personal details).

Note: You are advised not to include any personal details in posts to the Forum or the Personal Journeys section - this way malicious people or web sites cannot easily obtain your email address.

Contact-ability: Members of the " Support Group" are encouraged to support each other by email -
  • The Newsletter contains the email addresses of people who are willing to be "contactable". This section of the Newsletter contains the following details
    • Name,
    • Country,
    • Interest, (e.g. MIDD, MELAS, CPEO etc).
    • Email Address
  • Everybody receives the Newsletter anonymously because it is sent out using the BCC feature, but some of these people are also contactable via the Newsletter.

Whilst there is the possibility of abuse, this is not expected.
If in doubt, use a secondary email address - such as HotMail.

Note: This scheme allows Members of the " Support Group" a wide range of options:
I.e. The Newsletter, the Forum and the Personal Journeys are all independent of each other.
